OFFICERS QUIT

It's not uncommon for those overwhelmed after a major disaster to quit or even commit suicide. Some of it is "survivor's remorse", wanting to know why they survived and their friends or family didn't. It's happened with all major disasters, although more recognized over the last century or two. With all the major disasters we've had, from the Lusitania, Titanic, Hindenburg, all the way up to 9/11/01. Some escaped while others perished. And some of those who survived later took their own lives out of guilt for surviving.

Knowing that they police were in a situation where they weren't the ones in control, it was the thugs that ran the streets looting. The National Guard should have been staged in the area, ready to go in as soon as the storm passed. levees breaking or not.
