NEW ORLEANS

I have only one question about the New Orleans disaster: Why in Sam Hell didn't they helicopter in a massive water drop the FIRST day after the hurricane passed? There is no excuse for dehydration on such a massive scale. The whole rescue plan seems like a case of too many Chiefs and not enough Indians.

I agree, that's been my biggest "rant" since this has started, they could fly over and show the people but they couldn't air drop supplies to them??? They did over in Indonesia after the tidal wave. They had supplies there and handing them out the next day or two days later, not like here in our own country where its taken over 5 days to get supplies in. I could see if this was half a world away, but this is near airports. Military cargo planes that can make airdrops in the remotest of areas, so what prevented them from dropping MRE's and water to those they saw on rooftops? I don't think the mayor should have got in the radio and made the statements he made. Afterall, the dog isn't supposed to bite the hand that feeds it. You don't insult the government and then ask then for help.

Maybe now that food and water is getting in, those trapped in the city can get out.
