BUSH'S VISIT

President Bush did visit the area of the disaster, but as the article stated, he never visited the areas around the Superdome or the Convention Center, places where there has been gunfire and lawlessness. He saw it from above but not up close and personal. He didn't smell the stentch of death or sewage that permeates those areas. He was right when he said that the initial response to this disaster was unacceptable. And only because he visited the area, that they started rounding up buses and convoys to get those trapped inside the city out.

Another Rant I have about this is when Bush said he would send active duty troops to the region. According to the article he said he would send:

Bush said 4,000 active duty troops are already in the area and 7,000 more will arrive in the next 72 hours from the Army's 82nd Airborne from Fort Bragg, N.C., 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood, Texas, and the Marines' 1st and 2nd Expeditionary forces from Camp Pendleton, Calif., and Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Now, if he has all these active duty forces to bring to the region, why aren't these same forces fighting in Iraq and letting those National Guard and Reservist, who are from that area, come home and do the job they were intended for??

Exactly what should have been done in the first place. Since we've become the worlds police force the national guard should be renamed the international guard
