This is something they said right after Saddam's army was defeated and the US took control of Bagdad. It was said that Bush should have made an effort to keep the Iraqi army as a unit, and used them to help train the new recruits. After all, the Iraqi army had been at war with Iran for 10 yrs, they were battle hardened soldiers. Who better to train a bunch of green recruits. As it is, we have Americans training Iragis. Hopefull some of those former army members will come back and help fight the insurgency.
