MERCK WINS

HEART ATTACK

The drug company Merck won in court when the jury decided that the company had properly warned consumers of the possible risk. Frederick "Mike" Humeston, who suffered a heart attack in 2001 after taking the drug, claimed the company never warned physicians or consumers of the possible risk of heart attacks.

After deliberating for 7 1/2 hours, the jury found that Merck HAD warned the public of possible risk and therefore not liable.
