Yeah, but instead of using the seized vehicles. Auction them off and use the funds to pay for new equipment. I know here in Montgomery, once, maybe twice a year they auction off seized items and put that money to good use.

When my wife was Chief of Police, they auctioned off the cars and used the funds for the dept. Drug houses were autioned off but the mortgager got paid, what was left went to the county. Drugs were disposed of by incinteration and drug money (after trail) went to the state treasury. Guns usually went on the aution block unless they were evidencial murder weapons, then they were destroyed.
