NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND

GRADES

The program started with good intentions, but you can't lump a group of students together and have everyone pass. That's why there is the Bell Curve used in grading. There are always some that aren't going to do well. To change the curve so that everyone passes, it penalizes those who really work hard and do well. Back when my older brother was in 6th grade, the teacher wanted to pass him along because she said it would be traumatic for him to be kept back, eventhough he wasn't doing well in his classes.

The only way you can ensure that everyone passes it to do what they don't want to do, group kids with similar learning capabilities. That way, each group should all pass if the teat is scaled to their abilities.

The No child Left Behind Act was also set to guage Teacher performance. The reason it is strongly contested among teachers is that it requires them to teach.
