EXIT STRATEGY

IRAQ

Both parties are working on plans for a pull out of Iraq. The Democrats want dates and numbers. The Republicans want to leave Iraq as a stable country, they just want to be giving quarterly reports on the progress there, instead of them having to glean information from the press.

It's already been said that giving dates for pulling soldiers just aids the insurgents, because they could just lay low until the Americans pull out and them reek havoc. According to Bill Frist this morning on the Today show, earlier it was stated that Iraqis had only 1 brigade that was effectively trained, now they have 51. The Republicans want to wait until the Iraqis can defend themselves before leaving.
