SUBWAY DOGS

DOGS

Out of all the major cities in the US that have subway systems, New York City is rejecting an offer from the Federal Government to train K-9 units to be used as part of Homeland Security. The Transit Authority say that one of their concerns is that in a time of natural disaster or a major Presidential event, those dog teams could be pulled and used else where.

I don't know how many of you watch Saturday night tv, but there was a show on CBS called "The District". The basis of that show was about a NYC cop, Jack Maple, who died during the first season the show was on the air, (the real man, not the character). Anyway, Jack Maple rose to notoriety as the Chief of the Transit Authority. He was responsible for the clean up and order that was restored in the subway system while he was in that office. My point is, if he were still in that position, he would not reject those K-9 units being used in the subways.
