REBUILDING


Governor Blanco is finally taking steps to help New Orleans and other places in Louisiana recover from the hurricanes that hit this year.

She wants to make major cuts in the budget, roll back sales tax on machinery and other hardware that businesses need to rebuild. She put a hiring freeze on Government employees.

She's also pushing for better levee management of the levees and a stricter building code. Although everyone wants to rebuild and recover, some of her opponents feel that she's asking too much.
