Yeah and one piece of historical fact that everyone forgets when they talk about the assassination is that; it was the first time in history that both the President and Vice President had been in the same motorcade, parade or what have you, outside of Washington D.C.. They are never together like that because "IF" Johnson wasn't part of the conspiracy, that assassin could have taken out both Kennedy and Johnson and the whole country would be in chaos. There does exist a line of succession to the office of Presidency in case of tragedy. In pease time its:

# President pro tempore of the Senate
# Secretary of State
# Secretary of the Treasury
# Secretary of Defense
# Attorney General

Anyone who is old enough can remember Secretary of State Alexander Haig's fammour words that basically ended his career. When Reagan was shot in 1981, Haig rushed into the press room and claimed "I'm in charge." According to the list above, there were three other people ahead of him on the list. Not only that but Bush 41 was in constant phone contact with Washington D.C. so at no point was Haig ever in charge.
