EARTHQUAKE
Many of the houses is this region are adobe or mud type housing. In the bigger towns or cities there may be reinforced structures but in an area where a lot of poor people live, their housing wasn't build to stand up to earthquakes. And the remoteness of the region will hinder aid from getting in to those who need it.

And guess who was first on the scene with aid? And guess who was first on the scene with aid in the Guatamala mudslide. And guess who was never on the scene after Katrina did her thing? With all our ills, the one thing no other country can say is we Americans don't have heart.
