So, our government protects us from all enemies, foreign and domestic, but in case of a natural disaster, chaos rules? Every man for himself and to heck with the rest? If we had a category 5 hurricane hit Alabama and Bob Riley did nothing, didn't call out the Guard to assist in evacuations or assist in the recovery, we would be calling for his resignation. If all the government did was protect us from enemies, foreign and domestic, then there shouldn't be an FDA, a U.S.D.A, CDC, or any other organization that looks out for our health and our well being. Those are issues of national security.

The Government is supposed to look out for our health and well being, ie, like a parent.
