BROWN

Michael Brown, Director of FEMA, has been replaced in the recovery effort in New Orleans by Coast Guard Vice Adm. Thad W. Allen. TO me this was a good decision, because, since right after Katrina went through New Orleans, the Coast Guard didn't wait for authorization to go in and rescue people, they had helicopters over the city as soon as they could safely fly them. They didn't wait for the bureaucratic red tape to take action and save lives. The same can't be said for Mayor Nagin and Gov. Blanco.
