BUSH PLANS FOR FLU

PANDEMIC

You know I really don't watch talk shows that much, other than to Today show and that's because its more news that junk. But anyway I caught the Montel Williams show on Monday and it was about "Should we be scared," talking about the Avian flu and is it really the next big pandemic. He made a lot of good points, about how SARS was the next Pandemic, how the hantavirus was the next pandemic. When ever there is a new strain of some virus, its automatically labeled as the next pandemic and there is this "chicken little" mentality. There have only been a few to die from this avian flu and those were people who were either poultry farmers or those who were in contact with infected birds. There hasn't been a case of person to person transmission. The Ebola Virus is more likely to be the next pandemic than the avian flu. Or even Dengue fever, which you hear very little of but does exist in areas where the misquitoes that carry it live such as:

* Africa
* Southeast Asia and China
* India
* Middle East
* Caribbean and Central and South America
* Australia and the South and Central Pacific

I don't know about you but to me that looks like a larger concern than the "bird flu."
